Street-mobile.com was created in April 2008. When i first bought this domain, i was thinking of making a knowledge portal on mobile communications. The final concept and layout was not finalized until September 2008, which coincided with the soft launch of the Mobile Number Portability in Malaysia. During that time there were already few blogs that produced articles on mobile. I was thinking, with the MNP in place, articles on mobile plan comparison would be a nice gift for the malaysian cyber population.

At that time, I found a few blog such as soyacincau.com which had already put few articles on the latest mobile plans. It was a resourceful site that prompted me to think that sharing what you know is a small step towards building a knowledgeable society. Forums are also a good place to find fruitful discussion on mobile plan comparison.
So i started doing some compiling on available postpaid plans on the market. I guess with MNP, people from the prepaid segment would take the opportunity to port in as a postpaid subscriber and experience the luxury of having flexible post usage line.
So i dug into the different postpaid plans and to my horror, comparison is not as straight forward as i thought it would be. The postpaid product is composed of several segments tailored for the different usage tiers. Moreover, there are notions of on-net, off-net calls / SMS, free calls after certain accumulated usage, discounts based on usage, charging block, all to be factored in the comparison matrix.
Some simple math equations had to be developed and voila, you get a nice table of normalized values that can be translated into a nice graph.
After the postpaid article, I was happy to see google start picking up on it for certain mobile-related keywords. I then pursued compiling comparison for other mobile plans and the rest is history. Some of the articles have no analysis attached to it. For that I truly apologize, and I will have to balance between producing frequent articles and developing worthy lengthy content with in-depth study.
It has been a nice hobby that will turn into passion. As busy I am in life, I will continue to contribute to this portal and keep on fueling the momentum that has started since September last year.
